"NASA awarded contracts Nov. 1 to five companies (Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Orbital ATK, Sierra Nevada Space Systems and Space Systems Loral) to examine how they could develop a power and propulsion module that could become the initial element of the agency’s proposed Deep Space Gateway."

...

Mike Barrett, manager of the Power and Propulsion Element effort at NASA’s Glenn Research Center, in a Nov. 3 interview : “We’ve been looking at it internally, but if they have different ideas on the general concept of the gateway, how we can do that and how it aligns with their internal plans, then we’re hoping to get that out of this as well,”

https://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2013/10/golden-spike-lunar-sample-return-options/

"It is high time that humanity went beyond Earth. Should have a moon base by now and sent astronauts to Mars. The future needs to inspire. https://t.co/6HjDQnRSA5

Un début : https://futurism.com/spacex-launched-device-change-interact-space/

"this could ultimately be a big step towards kick-starting a commercial space economy, as “They’re making something that you can’t make on Earth.”"

"The Stepping Stones economic analysis of space transportation supplied from near-Earth object

(NEO) resources demonstrates the potential to break the tyranny of increasing space transportation

costs created by dependence on Earth-based resources, particularly propellant. The increasing

challenges of space exploration, particularly by humans, rapidly become unaffordable if only Earth-

based resources are available. By using Asteroid-Provided In-Situ Supplies (Apis™) spacecraft to

extract resources from NEOs and the creation of a space-based transportation infrastructure,

including a crewed lunar outpost in an energetically advantageous lunar orbit for storage and

propellant processing along with reusable spacecraft for transport, these resources can be utilized to

support crewed lunar surface exploration, crewed NEO exploration, crewed Mars missions, and

even space tourism at less than 25% of the cost otherwise required (~90B$ vs ~390B$ over 20+

years). This analysis further suggests that with relatively modest initial government investment, a

business case can be developed for a profitable industry in space resources."

Next stop : the moon by Giuseppe Reibaldi, John Mankins and Chris Welch

"In many countries, both governments and companies have plans to go to the moon to expand scientific knowledge and to assess the extent to which the moon’s natural resources may generate new wealth for humanity. Much has been written about the advantages of the moon as a technical and programmatic proving ground for humanity to expand toward Mars and beyond.

The only real question left to answer is this: how we shall go to the moon in a coordinated manner?"

I ( Doug Messier) have excerpted slides from those presentations to provide an overview of what the space agency is planning."
